What Is A Request For Proposal?

In the business world, there is a lot of ways in which a company might acquire some commodities or services from suppliers. One of the most common methods used, when pricing is a factor but timing is not, is to use the request for proposal method. This method is the process by which the business puts together specific details about what they are looking to purchase. They are intentionally very specific so that when suppliers give their proposal it is as close to comparing apples to apples as possible. This is a kind of bidding process in which the suppliers are giving their best price possible and for which they are willing to do the service or sell the commodity. The idea is that the business will be able to get the best possible service for the best possible price in this manner. The one down fall to this method of pricing is that the process can be slow.
